Reconing 419's with 414.

This is from a member (Hawaiiman) at another site. Both GM and I agree this is the place to get the answers but he's unable to log in here for some reason. Here goes:

"I've had this pair of 419's since new, but had them re-coned in the states for woofer use. Moving overseas, the cone for one got badly damaged, and I can patch with silk and super glue for now, but a re-cone is clearly needed. So I'd like to use a 414-8b kit, as these are 419-8b. They do a nice job as woofers. Will the 414-8b's be the answer?"

419 uses the same size magnet slug as the 414. If the pole and front plate are the same, i'd wager it will become a 414 with a 414 kit installed.

A call to Bill at GPA would get the rubber meeting the road in a hurry, and remove any question marks.

Yes I think he is checking out all possibilites including calling Bill. He lives in Thailand so not sure about the hours.

There is no member here by that name..Could explain why he is having issue logging in Cal.. Although without logging into the site for 180 days, folk's accounts get parked so to speak, and will need to have their accounts reactivated.

Hi AB,

He is a member at diyAudio. Here is his latest:

"I see the moderators message. I registered there yesterday, received the verification code, entered it, then attepted to login. Says incorrect. I tried again today. No luck. I will try re-register."

and

"Ok , re-regestered with same result. Everything goes fine and process completes, then when I try to login, I get invalid user or password."

The email verification is new here and written by Stevens new developer...Ask him if he can login now Cal ?

That is not an error code. That is the registration code that is sent to the email address a registrant enters. The next step is to copy and past that code into the validation page. This page is automatically presented after they submit their email or it is a tab on the registration page. Once entered it will allow them to proceed to create a user ID.
